Mates at Last? [kanny]

They had been together for a year now, she knew. And every day made her more and more fond of the wolf that had, set her free. She was so much more different to the timid one that she had been before he had come into her life. Now she was more like the puppy that she'd been when raised by a human child.

Everything of her had come back from then, her whole lively exterior. She was sure that what with his sister lurking about, and keeping an eye on her, he had his paws full. That much she knew, but she was able to care for herself now, and that was likely a good thing at the moment.

Now she searching for him, so that one more thing could be added to their pack of two. Finding him she bounded forwards licking him on the nose in greeting.

She barked, it was a laugh though that the sound was. She was so happy here. “Of course I am, Lukiwawa.” There was nothing she was more happy about at the moment, than being here in Woodrow Cove.

She looked at the ground for a moment, thinking about how she was going to say this. It had been a good year since they had met, and she was so much more than the she-wolf he'd met in that cage.

“I want to ask you something.” She paused, not really sure how to proceed with what she wanted to ask. It was not something she was all that easy about asking. This really was not something easy.

“What would you say to a litter of pups?” she asked. “For that is what I am asking for.” He would know that she wanted her own pups now, seeing as she was able to look after herself now in the wild. They were both fond of each other.

Luikawa chuckled deeply along with her, glad to know she was well and as suited to the wild as she seemed. She had been an enthusiastic student, wanting to hunt and catch anything that moved. He remembered those days fondly, glad to have spent those days with her as well as though to come.
His grey eyes followed hers, wondering what was so interesting about the ground before them. Leaves, that was all that he saw.
But then she spoke, and he finally noticed that she had been deep in thought.

He blinked at her request, somewhat surprised.
Nodding his head slowly, knowing he would give her anything she wanted. But first he had something of his own to ask, something that must come before pups.
"Yes, if you do one thing for me first," he said gently, nuzzling her cheek.
"Be my mate, my one and only and I would love to be the father of your pups."

For a moment she was completely stunned by his question. There was something about it that seemed right to her. Even though she was not the one who had known him longest, she was stunned into silence. Her? One of the pack leaders? That was something that had stunned her into silence, though she knew that she would have to accept. She loved him so much, there really was only one answer.

“Yes.” it was all she could think to say, though she knew that it would be enough in this instance. She really didn't know what else she could say at the moment. There were some things that did not really need all that many words to be spoken. For her this was certainly one of those little things that happened. Wasn't really a little thing, she knew for her it was massive, but she could certainly live with what he had asked of her.

He broke into a Wolfy grin, his nose burring into her soft white and red pelt, nuzzling her side.
"Oh thanks the gods," he mumbled, licking her cheek as his tail wagging gratefully.
He paused in his delightful prancing, eying her with a slight tilt of his head.
"To the glade?" he questioned, unable to believe that she had wanted to be his mate and to carry his pups. He knew he would remember this day for years to come, for the joy which it held was something that came rarely in a persons life.

"You seemed uncertain," she commented, smiling at him. "Why would I choose anyone else in this entire world? You're the only brute I know. Not that i would ever consider leaving here. This is where I belong.”
she chuckled. “I suppose we should head over there, soon enough.” There clearly was not anything she would not do with him at the moment. So much she had changed, and it was because of him, that she was happy and not to mention, free at last to have her life the way she wanted to have it. Woodrow Cove would always be her home, now and forever.

"I'm sure you could find a much better mate then me..." he said quietly, head dipping sadly "you are beautiful and so very easy to love.."
He bounded back to her side, licking her cheek and rubbing against her side so that his scent mingled with hers. Now the whole world knew she was taken, she was his and only his until the day they both died.
"Just tell me when you are ready love," he murmured his eyes sparkling with love and adoration for her "I am so glad you are mine..."
He hesitated at a thought which drifted into his mind, pausing.
"Sakarri's mate died..." he whispered dropping to the ground and resting his head upon his paws.
"We are the only wolves in these lands now...which makes us its next leaders," he paused again unsure how to continue "and the next king and queen of all wolves. We shall be helping Ashton and his queen and heir..."
He looked up at her, unsure what she would say to this.

“Are you serious?” she yelped in surprise at what she had been told by him. Ti was not the sort of thing she was expecting to hear from him. “I didn;t think that was possible for the wolves.” It was the last thing she had expected to hear from him, really. “And I am ready.” She knew that their family would grow soon, and the sooner the better. At least that way, it would provide a heir to their inherited title. “Who was before us though?”
she had noticed he had not named the pair that were supposedly the leaders of all the wolves.

“But as you said, he is getting older now, and that means that he will not be able to do all the work any more, will he? He may well need our help in the future.” She smiled at him. “It's a big job, but I know we will manage.” that was something that she could not possibly doubt at the moment. They were both young and would live on for many more years, certainly outlive Ashton.

“I'm sorry to hear about Zealdir.” she sighed. Those things happened, this she knew, but at the moment, she liked to think that he would not happen for a long time. “What other wars have threatened Freedoms Palace?” she was always learning, and she knew that she had to be aware of all these things, if this was what she was meant to be from now on. It didn't mean it was easy for her to come to terms with though. Nothing would be easy in that manner of speaking. “I don't actually think I've met Ashton, in the year I've been here.”

Luikawa pondered quietly for a moment.
"Well there have been many battles...most between stallions for a fae or lands, mostly between horses and not us wolves though it does happen," he mused quietly "the first big battle which was the first 'light' against 'darks' was against Hades, a hellion who went just a little to far. His half-brother, Corus was another..."
"Oh and Blade, that was after Corus but before Exile. The most recent one was Exile and Ashton fears that soon there shall be another," he said sadly.
Pausing for a moment and becoming lost within his thoughts, he nodded to her in agreement.
"That he is, but his queen and heir will taken the bunt of the work load, we just have to look over the wolves," he said lightly "and yes, my sister is still morning."
He sighed softly "I hope she will move on soon..."

He blinked at the mention of her yet to meet Ashton and suddenly stood with a warm smile "come then, let us go see him."

Se snarled at the thought of another war. There was no chance that she was about to let her friends get stuck in one without her. Though she almost moved with him in the direction he led her, to meet Ashton. Many things were in her head, but there were some things that were completely stupid at the moment.

“Let's go!” she barked eagerly moving through the sandy beaches. There was no doubt that she was one to run at the moment. Soon though she stopped at the sight of the massive black stallion standing on the beach.

Luikawa brushed her cheek with his snout gently, trying to calm her slightly.
"Hush, things shall end well...they always do," he told her gently, padding down the slopes of the beach and paused at the sight of the mighty king.
With a nod to Trig and a small grin, he approached.
"Greetings Ashton."

The noble, yet aged head lifted, orbs sparkling with warm amusement at the smaller, approaching couple.
"Hello Luikawa and Trigiadea" his soft lyrics said, making Luikawa chuckle slightly. It seemed true, Ashton did know much more about the lands. He knew everything, everywhere. Though, no one knew how.
The stallions eyes landed upon the red fae, bowing his head in soft greeting.
"It is good to finally meet you, Trigiadea," he said warmly, nose brushing her shoulder gently "and that you agreed to be with Luikawa."
He chuckled at Luikawa's surprised look "hush Luikawa, you know better then I do....I know all, or at least try to."

Not really sure was she about how to react when Ashton said her name before she told him it. “It's nice to meet you, Ashton,” she said shyly, bowing her furry head. She was stunned really, seeing him for the first time was not the easiest of things at the moment. Well not really ever at the moment.

She really did not know what to do at the moment. “I don't think there would ever be anyone else for me,” she added at the mention of Luikawa.

The aging ebony king chuckled at her seeming surprise, but his eyes twinkled warmly.
"You too dear, you too," he mumbled, nodding to Luikawa fondly "you have chosen well...much relies on her spirit."
Bowing to the brute and fae, he trotted off into the distance.

"He has work to do," Luikawa explained "the war is getting closer, and he worries greatly over the results.
"Many say that he wont live until the end of it."
The brute sighed sadly, eyes following the figure until it disappeared.
"Come...let us...find something to do," he chuckled, knowing she knew most of the land by now.

"Did I not ask you for something earlier?" she reminded him gently.
There was no chance he was getting out of that.
"You said you had to ask me something first, which I answered."
She chuckled, knowing that he would remember.
She knew that she was not going to let him forget about that one at all.
Would he remember though?

The time had come for them to have their own pups, and she knew that they would be wonderful to have around.
Was that something he wanted though?

Luikawa chuckled, his nose brushing lightly against her oddly marked side.
"Oh! How ever could I forget?" he said grandly, prancing neatly and seemed very much the carefree wolf of his youth.
A Wolfy grin crept into his maw, his legs moving tirelessly before sliding to a halt.
"To the glade my dear mate?" he queried, seeming to bristle at the thought of finally having pups to call his own.

She chuckled, licking his cheek happily.
“Took you a moment, silly.”
She knew though that he would not really have forgotten her little request.
There was no way he would ever do that really.
That was not something that he was likely to ever do on her.

She knew him too well.

“Yes, we will go to the glade.”
Inside she was very amused that he almost forgot about her little idea.
She was not about to let the same thing happen in and chance as what happened to Sakarri.
No, she would make sure that this time there was a heir to their title waiting for them and to be there when Ashton fell and when in turn, they fell.
