Onyx

I really didn't know what to do but turn away from all that I had grown to know in my terrain, and it seemed as if war was plaguing our land so much. In my heart, I had known for quite some time that darkness was pulling me back in. I could only deny my nature and heritage for so long, and some things could be neither denied nor stopped. I didn't want to become like the others...I wanted to stay the same for the fae I would have followed into heaven and back for. For some time though, she had left me, and now I was wondering if she would ever return. Armada.

Where was she? What was she doing now? I couldn't be more confused about where my life was going now. Was I still to be king when the cobalt stag fell? I now wondered if he would even die now that my love had left me alone and broken. Now, I knew how my previous mate had felt. There were still times when I thought back to the days when we were together.

It saddened me to think that my dear Permisso hated me for something I couldn't control. If I could have taken it all back - all the lies and deceit I would and I would have fixed the situation between us. We weren't meant to fight, I know. I was wrong for abandoning her shortly after she had our two children. I sighed, for I knew that it was a hopeless cause. There was no use trying to get her to speak to me. Regret filled my mind and soul as I felt like I was going to weep, all alone.

"Who is there?" I asked, hearing the rustling of leaves behind me as I searched around with my volcanic orbs. My pelt was lighter now, in the summer than the winter, my bright red gleaming distinctly in the sunlight. Someone was near, someone. I surely hoped it was someone I was on good terms with, for there were surely few of those these days.

She was not in the trees that were for sure, the rustling of the leaves had been cause `by her wings as she glided over head. She had always been wandering these days, but it was the smell of an old... enemy? That had called her here now. She dove towards the tree line, searching as she flew.

He was not as dark as she remembered him yes, how could she forget all those spikes on his head. “Only me!” she hissed, landing before him on her hind legs alone, in a tall rear, her head almost whacking into a branch but she cared not.

So, Armada was not around was she? Hmm. The mare dropped onto all four legs, striding towards him, ears pinned back. Why did he have to be the one interrupting the peaceful solitude of her flight? “Remember me, Onyx?”

I listened and watched as I heard a few more rustles of leaves, wondering why they were so very high in the trees. Then, it struck me. That smell wafted through my nostrils of hell itself closing in, and I knew in that very moment that the creature that approached was one of two things - my child or my ex-queen. For a while, I had wandered about the sanctuary, keeping to myself and surely not engaging with any of the others around here. They were of no interest to me. I had my own things to worry about, like my life. Not theirs. I wasn't nervous that my well known enemies were approaching, for I feared them not. I was just as strong as a hellion on any given day, but perhaps, they did not want to trouble me.

By hearing an angry 'Only me!', I could only guess who my unexpected visitor was. Permisso. I wasn't sure how I felt about even hearing her voice again, let alone seeing her. Last time I had spoken to her, she had been heartbroken and homicidal towards me. I would trust that not much had changed, unless she was faring well with her colt-friend over on the shores of peace. I knew not. As long as she didn't give me too much trouble. I sighed, awaiting the storm that would follow her angry usage of words.

"How could I not remember you?" I asked, seriously wondering if she was being legitimate with me as she asked if I remembered her. She bore two of my children, one of which who was highly disrespected in the community, even by me. Oh well, children made mistakes, and they would learn eventually not to be idiots. Or they would be treated as such.

Armada had been missing for quite a while, and I was starting to wonder if it was a good idea to give up on being a king and living happily with her.

There was still rage in her eyes as she glared at him. Clearly the way she felt about his still showed on the outside. On the inside though, she was not sure about how she felt, seeing him again after all this time. That losing him to Armada had hurt was very true, she still remembered that conversation quite well, she had always thought she would never see him again.

Though there was fury in her very appearance, she knew inside she was not so angry. It was just an old reaction coming back to the top once more. There was no hope left for eher now, and she had hardened more and more into the horse her father would have wanted.

But perhaps... if Onyx truly had left Armada behind.. perhaps there was a chance for the horse she used to be to come back once more. It was not something she was all that sure about, but what was a chance really? It could fail but maybe it might not.

“I thought I said I never wanted to see you again...” she muttered, looking at him with that sharp predatory gaze. Perhaps she had been wrong. It was not something easy for her to say at all, but she knew eventually, he would realise that she would not attack him.

Why did she have to realise, after all this time that she still felt for him? She knew that she had always cared about him somewhere deep inside, and slightly, she relaxed. The manger was still there, but could he blame her for that, after what he had done to her?

The answer to the ongoing question was all too simple, but I was too futile to accept that eventually I would have to allow reality to guide me. I didn't mind being around my long loathed first love - and I had loved her at one point in my life. I felt a pang of horrid pain, like my heart was torn in two, for even though the tall hellion fae was not with me right now, I felt her presence in my soul. Armada always had a sort of control over me...I would have followed her anywhere. It had been different with my first love.

My mind was a calm sea as I looked into her eyes with confusion and frustration swirling about in my own. Why had fate caused her to see me here? I hadn't wanted to for years though she had been in my dreams occasionally. Those first few months with her were pure bliss.

"I avoided you for years. Just so I didn't have to see you...or our children," I said tersely, knowing now that she was not going to attack me. I was still keeping my guard up - emotionally and physically to avoid getting hurt again. We were still young and had a full life ahead of us; how were we to know the destinies that would happen in our futures? How? I was unsure about how to even fight for years. I still didn't know my alliance. I supposed I leaned more towards dark than anything, but every creature I had been around changed me a bit until I became what I was that day. A mix.

"You know.." I paused for a moment, trying to forget the scene I saw just a few days ago. "My father and Exile returned. I am free from them now though.." I said, hoping that they would not regain mental control of me again. My poor, dear mother. Killed by the wrath of the hellions. But a poor, lowly mare was she, and I, the monster was her result.

"How could I not know that they have returned? Forget have you that Satan is my sire? Because of him I know every hellion, who they are, where they are, who is in their lineage... Even if they have picked a side in wars to come," Permisso replied quietly. "I know Medarmeth is your father. And I know they are in Still Waters."

She sighed. "I know that our son is a weakling. Can you imagine having that hanging over you? I've known since he was born that nothing good would come of him."

She sighed. That was not so important now. "Then it would not help you to know that my father, has sided with Exile. When it comes to minds though, no one save those who he has taught can resist him."

She was worried now. Though she knew she was safe from such a thing, she knew that both Onyx and their son were not.

PostSubject: Re: Rekindling Past Flames (Erosaf)   Fri Mar 01 2013, 12:33

It was an unfortunate affair, that my past had quite literally come back from the dead to haunt me. There was nothing I could do to stop the ivory menace and his brigade of faes and venom-tongued children other than fight for the other side. That went against what I stood for, either way - fight for the enemy...against the enemy? Maybe, the simple fact of the equation was that I had far too many enemies. Oh well, just another thing I had to think about, among many others. I had to think about my own future, and the fact that I only had a single fae to my name when I had seen five springs.

"It hangs not over me," I said easily, shifting weight. "I came before him...and I will make a stag out of him yet. He will know no weakness when I teach him all there is to know about growing up. The boy is but a colt...not a stag," I huffed, a little aggravated that my son was not up to the expectations that I had hoped for. At least the filly was faring well, I hoped so at least. They were not me though, by far and had not seen what I had seen.

Fast paced hoof-beats were approaching on them, and I whipped my skull around to see who was coming. Dammit. It was that fae with the disturbed mind - Candra! Hadn't I had enough of her back when I was young; did I really have to deal with her now.

Tall and well-muscled was she, her delicate skull holding dangerous bright-blue eyes as she looked sharply to the both of us. I knew that she was very strong...and hateful, but I certainly was not afraid of the ebony, ivory, and crimson fae. No longer were we children, and her tortuous methods of attempting to make me submit were no longer valid. I stood on my own four feet now, and I would kill her if she crossed me. One less deranged monster in the world, I knew. "Can I help you with something, princess Candra?" I asked sarcastically, shooting her a glare of disbelief and distaste. Why had she come here? Just to harass us?

"Actually," the fae paused, as if she were thinking but returned to us with a flashy smile. "I just came to claim back one of our slaves...you know...business calls. It's a shame you too won't get the little love affair you wanted. And, Permisso, I thought you were above this type of stag...a wimpy coward.. But, deary, that is not my choice but yours. A child of the slave. That's certainly interesting. Daddy will love to hear that news," she laughed, tossing her skull in the air easily as she pranced around me. My body language was firm. She would not take me back to the herd - I was not for claiming by Exile. I knew that she had before promised me I would return to serve them, but I could not! I would fight with every fiber of myself not to go back.

"You think you can just take him, Candra? You might be the daughter of Exile, but that matters not to me. Even your father knows not to try and push someone around who knows one of my family!” Permisso turned towards the other mare completely, ears back, long fangs bared. She would not allow this to stand.

There was no kindness in her when it came to Candra. That was one mare who she hated quite a bit. The mare sickened her, and if she were not careful, she really would get a thrashing from Permisso. And she doubted Exile would want that at all.

A slight smirk came from the fae's maw as she pried her way into the mind of me, the servant. Truly, at mind, I was still a servant of their family - bound to them by the sacred blood of his father. "Áit mé seal ar tú. Beidh do leanbh a rugadh an chéad mianach. Doirteadh do chuid fola i mo onóir!" she said quietly into my hark. I didn't know what the words meant, but a sickening sensation erupted in my chest. I knew she had placed some curse of the old magics on me. I wasn't scared. It couldn't be that bad after all. She looked satisfied after she said her words.

Then, she kicked me in the side, and I felt a cracking in my ribs. I heaved. Obviously, one was broken, and blood was coming from my side where she kicked me. The curse must have involved blood, I understood.

After that, she left, content in what she had done to me. I knew not yet what it was. But she certainly did something notable. Would if affect Permisso and myself? Would it cause me to lose my eventual control of Inferno Plains after Frenzy stepped down? I was not power hungry, but to be a king would do me some justice after the years I had lived in exile of the hellions and average horses.

Permisso snorted in some surprise at the words Candra had said. Onyx might not have been able to understand them, but she certainly had. Well, it would be no foal of hers that would end up going to that bitch! She stomped her hoof in annoyance, not exactly happy about what Candra had said.

"I am glad to see her gone, but what she said troubles me. You might not have understood her, but I did full well," Permisso said. Only if he asked would she tell him though, she thought what Candra had done was a rather terrible thing.
