| Sunlight glinted down on a clear center of the river, pebbles of many different hues shining their vibrancy out to the world. Overhead, a weeping willow begged for solace as it stood out in the open, fending for its own, roots reaching deep into the bed of the river. If one didn't know better, they would believe it was the complete energy source of the entire land. A wiser being would notice how the fire hued flowers grew in the direction of the sun and how, every moment of the day, they were calling for the great rains of early autumn to come and quench their thirst. The sweet seaweed that grew throughout the riverbed supplied nourishment for the tiny fish who she had grown quite fond with over the years, as well as her kind. It was not the tree, but the river that supplied life to the entire territory surrounding it.
Sunlight glinted off of some orange stones, so shiny and beautiful under the surface - no, wait! They were eyes, flecked with the most docile nature, gold sharing the space with the fiery hue. If you looked really closely, you could even see the mousy gray maw setting just above the surface, inhaling and exhaling gently. Odd ebony pillars swirled about in a frenzy of kicking as she tread along, the friction of the water making her just as strong as anyone of her kind. Were they appendages, though? That was the question. From afar, one would guess so, for didn't all hoses have legs in the water? No, not the Hykrans. A scaly tail grew from her hindquarters when she was submerged in the cool waters. Intricate swirls decorated her slender form as she moved to land, willing her normal pillars to come back into place as she wrung out her pelt, shaking lazily as she moved with placidity through the sod.
Why, I ask you, would a Hykran come to the claiming grounds? She obviously had better options than to choose a commoner to go with. This was no average vixen, though. There was nothing average about Rayna, not even in her kind's standards. Before them all was standing a queen, the queen of all Hykran horses. It just so happened to be that she was the half-queen of the Tundra, ruling it with her friends and the Eispferd horses. It was a nice life to her, but nothing is ever complete without love. Even the stupidest of creatures knew that. Rayna wanted something real, something she would never let go of. That was something that Inachus could not give her, so she would search elsewhere for love. That meant - here.

| He was a tall horse, that was known and rather heavily built. But he seemed to dance on his hooves with every step, none of the others said he was a cumbersome mover. That was not possible. He moved easily through the river, careful not to shock the inhabatants of the cool running stream. It always seemed to be running, and yet it was the middle of winter? Thunderstorm seemed finding that a little hard to believe.

| It seemed as if thunder was coming to the river, as if a storm would sweep away the beautiful sunshine that beamed down on to the earth. But, though the flowers would love a good rain, it was not thunder. Heavy hooves were propelled forward by thick legs that attached to an even thicker and more muscular body. Black and white was he, with crystal blue eyes that were kind and intelligent. His thick mane and tail stream behind him as he galloped along the edge of the river, streaming behind him as if they were a royal banner announcing his presence. The previous king of Africa had no land, no mares, and no love, but he kept his head high and continued to move forward.
Though he rarely grew tired, Asad felt a little breathless and decided to slow and take a sip. He caught his breath and then lowered his head to get a drink. Closing his eyes, he allowed the cool liquid to flow down his parched throat. Oh, how he loved water. If he could be a fish, he would. Before he was was finished drinking, he slowly opened his eyes and watched the little fish that swam around beneath the surface. But there was something else...something that looked like...eyes! Asad nearly choked as he lurched backwards, greatly startled as a creature, horse-like, fish-thing began to emerge from the water. Legs sprouted from the underneath.
His head tilted with deep curiosity and confusion. What breed of horse was this? And how could he become one? Asad laughed to him self. He was who he was, and nothing could change that except for magic. Though he was usually a loner, and rather standoffish, his interest got the best of him and he slowly approached, growing more and more nervous as he studied her. She was beautiful, with intricate, swirling markings along her bodice. She carried her self in a regal manner, as if she were royalty, and that only made him more self conscious than before. He had nothing to offer but a friendly conversation and his loyalty and love, if he loved her.
He cleared his throat nervously and shook his head to remove his forelock from his blue eyes. There was now another stallion, a winged stallion, present, and that only increased his jitters. "Hello, I don't mean to intrude, if I am, but I am Asad. May I know your name, miss?" He was being overly polite, it was obvious, but he was incredibly intimidated by this amazing creature.

| Life was quite simplistic, when one thought of it. For the ice, so cool and refreshing, always slivered away to nothing as dogwood trees filled the terrain with their warm, budded fragrances. And the leaves, they departed the barren trees, usually alive with chirping blue-jays and robins population their reaches. Life was repetitive, the seasons coming and going like love and friendship and war - but of course, that was not how it was supposed to be. Just like the inquisitions of the stag she seemed to share the ice with of her status as queen. His constant wondering if she had...found someone to share her bit of royalty with. The reply was always a rather awkward: not yet, but perhaps that could change.
It was always easy to think under the deep river, yet she could feel the constant moving about of different creatures. As he scaled hind-quarters propelled her up, she nearly plowed over a massive shape - hardly recognizable with the speed she was moving. But - but it was a stag, and a rather astonished one, at that. As she stood upon the bank, she saw his gaze go to hers but would wait, until he dared approach. No brute was worth the time if they could not court the vixen they chased so avidly after. Love was not from afar...but must be near.
Tresses, a hue so pure as the moon dried almost instantaneously in the cool, foggy clearing. Orbs like the sun shone brilliantly, watching, observing intelligently as she pondered as to who would approach her. They would have to be of a curious mind and of course, accepting of her heritage. Gracefully, she surveyed the clearing, taking a few small steps in each direction, her slim bodice glimmering with hues of the earth and of a shimmering obsidian stone. Many watched, but few approached - perhaps, it was because of her regal stature. Some stags were intimidated by the way a queen moved, the way she spoke to all. Others took challenges like home, welcoming a member of royalty like they would an old friend.
The rapping of earth against massive daggers awoke her from thought, and she turned to greet the newcomer. Rather handsome he was, she thought to herself - but beauty wasn't everything. One had to be of the right mindset too - to speak with dignity toward themselves and to let her speak without interruptions. How could two creatures coincide when they could not listen to each others' thoughts? His orbs of crystal blue ice were brilliant to her, and they shone like the heart of her homeland. He was nervous, and that much was plain to the eyes. Perhaps, he, too felt under pressure by her presence, but obviously it was worth it to him to speak with her, for he was not leaving. Both ebony and ivory caressed his pelt, and she awaited his voice.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Asad," she replied, dipping her skull respectively. "I am Rayna, possessing half ownership of a territory in the Tundra called Haus der Eis-Pferde," she stated, awaiting him to respond. Dearly, she hoped he had no land of his own, for it would be tragic for her to not give him a chance just because he would never be able to stay with her.

| Though unsteady before her, Asad felt himself calm as she turned to address him. Her words were smooth, like the water she had emerged from and a smile played on his lips slightly as he caught her name and the land she called home. He had been right in assuming she was royalty. Here he was, standing before a queen, and he was jittering like a nervous colt. Maybe she would find it endearing, but then again she could find it absolutely ridiculous and turn him away.
Once she finished, Asad took a moment to compose himself, not wanting to stumble over his words like a newborn falling over their own legs. "It's a pleasure to meet you, lady Rayna. I call no land my home. It was taken from me by wolves many moons ago." He almost lowered his head in shame but thought better of it, not wanting her to know he was ashamed of himself. Tragedy struck many equines and he should not think any less of himself for it.
"I don't mean to sound rude, but, what are you?" He was incredibly mesmerized by her entrance from within the river, if not a little jealous. Asad had always dreamed of being about to swim through the waters as a fish does. This breed of equine he had never heard of and he immediately cursed his mother for courting with a mortal. He silently laughed the thought off, knowing he would not be who he was today if his mother had done anything differently.
But to live the life of a fish, and of a horse, whenever he pleased, would be a blessing to him in many forms. Rayna was certainly an amazing find for him, whether she asked him to return home or not. Either way, he would have something new to dream of every time he closed his eyes.
ooc ;; not my best. sorry.

| Rayna couldn't help but smile at his colt-like antics and his jitters - was the once great Asad...nervous? But it was not he that she was smiling about but how intimidated he was of her. Her, a threat, something to worry about? No, it was her that was more apt to be worrying about whether he would accept her even as a friend, let alone a lover. At least he had the courage to come up and speak to her - the other ebony stag with the odd yet beautiful marks upon his pelt had not even approached yet but stood with dullness to the side, acting like a lost wolf pup in a dense forest of pine trees.
"You have no reason to be nervous...although I find your quivering very...adorable," she giggled, smiling a bit afterwards. Although she was a queen, deemed to royalty by her kind and the others around her, she was rather slack in her duty. Unlike other queens, she was rather outspoken and believed that the power was hers to hold and not that of a mate or even her friend that ruled the land with her. Most of the royalty today were conservative, but that didn't make you a good leader!
The queen's brow would have furrowed if she was a human as she watched him with dismay. "Stolen, by wolves? You don't mean Crepusculum and that bunch, do you?" she asked, simply inquiring. With hope, it would not strike any nerves or push him into anything that he didn't want to speak of - defeats weren't always the most wonderful things to remember. Unfortunately, they happened to all the best of us, so one slip up in authoritative power didn't hurt things too much, did it? It didn't bother her, at least, although she was sure it bothered him to recall such things. "Don't worry, they will meet their just punishment for what they've done. I tend to stay away from them, for they are often associated with hellions....and our kind do not fare well with them," she replied, fear rising in her heart at the thought of them.
She nodded, not completely taken aback by his question. It had been asked to her plenty of times. "Oh, of course. I suppose I should be getting to that part. I am a Hykran. We are a special type of horse, as you can see - and we are like the navy of the horses. We are built for battle and specialize in the movement of water and ice, much like the Eispferds, yet we are different because we specialize in water in the liquid form...and they specialize in ice," she finished, hoping that her description was good enough. Of course, he would learned more if he was the one she desired to come with her.
Many wished they had the power of the Hykran, but it was something that one was born with - and most of the time it could only be achieved by two Hykrans breeding together. One fourth of times a Hykran and regular horse bred together, a Hykran foal could be achieved, and it was a fifty percent chance that a water horse would be born if one parent was an ice horse.
"As interesting as this all is about me, what about you? Where do you prefer to live...and what was your life like before in Africa, if that was the land you stayed in?" she asked, wanting to know more about him.

| Asad thought back to when he had become sick, so weak and sleeping all the time. He had gone to be alone for a few months, and when he had returned, wolves were running his territory. The previous owner of the land could have asked for his land back, or offered them a deal, but he had gotten a glimpse of the two alphas, and they were nearly as large as a pony. It wasn't worth the risk, he had told himself, and moved on.
It angered him that he was homeless, that he had nothing to offer. But then again, what could one offer a queen who already had it all? Even if she wasn't royalty, Asad would believe she had it all simply because she could go between water and earth. It made him slightly envious, but in a good way.
A Hykran was something he had never heard of, but he was fascinated already. He nodded his large head as Rayna said they would get what they deserve. They would indeed, one way or another. It might not be from him, but everything comes back on you eventually.
Pleased that she was taking an interest in him, Asad smiled and took a deep breath before answering her. "I live where ever my legs take me. I've been everywhere, from the desert to the tundra, I love it everywhere." He paused.
His past wasn't that great. He had no foals to speak of, no previous mates, never been in love. He had nothing to speak of, nothing to brag about. "It was wonderful there, but I had no one to share it with me." He wished he had someone to share his life with.
ooc ;; sorry, i lost muse towards the end.

| One could not imagine the pain splattered across his ivory painted features as the muscular beasts gave the king a harangue on how he was an unfit leader and weak. She could not. It reminded her slightly of the time that the Volcin creatures had visited their lands, coupled with threats to destroy them. Over time, they, too were defeated - their security was not in immediate danger now, and they were enjoying a time of prosperity. Fire was her only obstacle, what burned her inside and out at just the thought of it. Her golden orbs looked dismayed for a moment as she thought of her terrain, glowing with darkening embers.
There was not much she had, for she came not of the well-known family blood that had existed within the rolling green hills of this gathering of terrain for centuries now. Her kind had always laid low in the shadows, but of course, the earthy fae hardly liked keeping secrets - let alone keeping herself as one to the world. All she had was the water, for it was her and described her in many ways. Some had said that her personality flowed like a river, ice forming on the sides of those that had betrayed her. With time, though, all ice melted and formed the flowing river it was before the winter storms, just as all relations mended eventually. Life was like water - it never stopped flowing. Even with the days growing longer and nights growing shorter, it always kept pattern.
"I certainly know how it feels...living in a large land with no one. Well...I have a friend named Inachus, the supposed king, but he is not for me. He has asked me for years if my answer had changed, but it never did. Not once. I couldn't bring myself to stand by someone I didn't love," she said, orange orbs flicking to the ground for a moment. Rayna hadn't recalled her...status to anyone before, let alone someone she had met just hours before. "I knew that the search would continue...until I settled for second best or until I found someone," she paused, awaiting his reply.
There wasn't much to say. She was lonely, and she had such a wonderful world of ice - yet she had no one to share it with. Crystalline walls of glorifying beauty she awakened every morning to...a world of clarity with no smoldering ashes to darken her world. No lies to confront, to demolish beneath her icy daggers. But most of all, that warmth that usually formed in her heart, rising up to bring emotional tears to her orange orbs. There was nothing but emptiness, since she had come to these lands. There was no love.
