| The golden mare walked unsteadily into the forest that she called home, not bothering to hide her tracks or mask her scent for once. She was too tired, too drained, too anxious to worry about things like that at this time.
Her brown eyes sought the two foals whom she had recently birthed, unable to mask her pride. Her son stuck close to her, and she leaned down to nuzzle him.
Her daughter, however...
Kunama felt her heart clench in fear. Ilinga had wanted to explore already, her bright chocolate eyes scanning the area. Already, she was starting to wonder, and Kunama had had to call her back a few times. Now, the young filly was sticking close to Kalina, looking at her with awe in those innocent eyes.
Kunama turned away, sharply calling for Ilinga, who gumbled and shot her a dark look, but came anyway.
"Thowra," she called softly, lookeing determinedly away from Kalina.
Thowra, please, she murmured in her head.

| Despite only being three months old, Kalina strode along purposefully. This land stank of those who seemed not to be like her, and it sickened her as she walked further in. She gave a little snort of rage when her freind had go back to that pathetic mare's side and that annoyed her. Was the filly that weak? That would make her less fun to break.
Thowra lifted his head from where he had been grazing on the far side of the land. He snorted at the scent of shed blood though and cantered away to find out who it was. He gave a warning neigh as he moved, knowing that if another stallion was involved, he would rip them to shreds.
Soon though he came upon them and groaned when he saw imediately where the blood came from. Someone had bitten Kunama! His beautiful mare! "Kunama! Are you alright?" he asked, striding over to her. He smiled though as he saw his son and daughter. Then he spotted Kalina. "And who's this?"
"You don't recognise me?" Kalina asked, tone cold and flat. "Or do you not remember the red roan mare your forced?"
Thowra blinked. A red roan? "No, I do not," he replied, calmly. What was with this dark little foal.
Kalina bared her teeth. "Well, thanks to you she's dead. I got left on my own because she died birthing me!"
Thowra blinked. | |

| Ilinga shook her head playfully, watching with satisfaction and amazement as her fuzzily growing pale cream forelock tumbled down into her eyes. She sneezed, once, twice, before settling down into a sedate pace beside her dam. Raising her eyes innocently, she waited until she had received Kunama's nod of approval, before looking around and rolling her eyes exaggeratedly at Kalina.
The other filly fascinated her. She was sharp and quick-tempered, and she wasn't afraid of anything!
*** Kunama heaved a worried sigh, which she quickly smoothed as she heard Thowra move nearer. Her eyes eagerly alighted upon the creamy stallion, and she nuzzled him gratefully, eyes brimming with a thousand untold emotions.
"I-I'm fine," she whispered shakily through a tight throat, voice cracking slightly. Then she cleared her throat. "Meet your children, Thowra. These is Ilinga and Wurring."
Pride shone through her eyes, as she nudged each of her foals towards their father. She did her best to ignore the demon's conversation with Thowra, sighing wearily when Ilinga trotted up to the other foal again.
"That's not very nice," she told Thowra huffily, stamping a slender, delicate hoof. "Her Mama's dead! You should say sorry," she stated imperiously, nodding self-importantly. Then, she turned to Kalina, giving the other a toothy grin, as though waiting for approval.

| "Ilinga!" Thowra stared at her. How could she say something like that to her father. "Whether she is my daughter or not, she is not like us. You will stay away from her until i can be sure we can trust her."
He looked at Kunama. "I guess it would not hurt for them to look around at least. You know this land is safe for them. Come on."

| Ilinga looked at her father with wide eyes, rebelliousness already casting dark streaks in those pools of deep, melted chocolate. The young filly tossed her head, golden coat shining beautifully in the dappled sunlight, under the leafy boughs.
"No," she refused, frowning, lip quivering as she prepared to throw a huge tantrum. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her mother close her eyes and felt sharp pinpricks of guilt. But she forced them away, looking stubbornly at Thowra. She wouldn't let them take away her friend!
"I won't! She's my friend," Ilinga said stoutly, wide eyes flicking from one horse to the next, as she felt a storm of emotion welling from deep within her. Just as she was about to stamp her hoof again, a bout of flames erupted suddenly from behind her, setting the bushes alight.
She spun around eyes wide with horror, even as Kunama swooped in front of her, ushering her hurriedly away.
"Looks like she has your genes, Thowra," Ilinga heard her dam say dryly.

| Thowra almot jumped at the sudden flames coming out before quickly stomping on the flames on the ground, smothering them. He was not bothered by the heat on his hooves like some would be. "Careful Ilinga!" He eyed the other filly. She seemed to be smirked with some sort of vindictive glee at the way Ilinga was acting at that point. As though she was pleased by something, and Thowra had a feeling none of them would like it.

| The dizzying rush of fear had passed as quickly as it had come. In it's place, was both excitement and awe.
The young filly pranced on the spot excitedly, tossing her delicate head with pride.
"That was awesome!" she exclaimed, turning to Kalina, before looking at Kunama and her brother.
"Come on, Wurring! You try it now!" she ordered imperiously, grinning at him in encouragement. Her eyes shone bright as stars at this new discovery.
Forgetting about her audience for a moment, she pranced to Kalina, eagerly pawing at the ground.
"Wasn't that cool? Can you do something like that too?"
Then, fast as quicksilver, she changed the topic after Kalina had answered. "Want to explore?" she asked the other filly.

| Kalina laughed for a few seconds before pointedly looking at her father, and stomped one small hoof. Thowra gave a snort of surprise as the ground shook under him, and he fell to his knees, a thing very rare for the vampire. "How about something like that?" Kalina asked. She grinned at Ilinga. "And don't bother with your pathetic brother. Nothing special about him at all." Laughing her head off she grinned. "Yeah why don't we?They can't follow us, the ground will shake if they so much as try."
There was nothing innocent about her at all, though those who met her often made the mistake of thinking she was.

| Ilinga's eyes widened in admiration and awe, as the very earth trembled beneath her tiny hooves. She tossed her head and snorted in excitement, grinning manically as she danced around the small group, snickering in good humour as her father fell under the tremours.
"That's so cool!" she gushed, eyes star-struck. "And amazing! How did you do that? Can you teach me?"
Ilinga laughed a little at her brother's expense, smiling at him kindly. "Then that's okay," she tried to assure him. "Not every one can be this cool!"
The filly winked playfully, before glancing at her dam, and went back to dancing around Kalina.
"Ilinga!" Kunama said sharply, before gasping silently in horror, looking uneasily at Kalina.
The filly ignored her dam, nodding enthusiastically.
"Yeah! Let's go!" she grinned, turning round with a flick of her hooves and disappearing into the dense bush.

| Kalina smirked at Kunama before darting off after the smaller filly, easily catching up to her on her longer legs. She was certainly happy that she was causing them such chaos by just being here. "I do not think I can, sadly enough, Ilinga."
She was starting to like the younger filly. She at least was interesting.. and maybe she would be able to manipulate her a bit. On purpose too!

| Throat burning. It was the scent of intruders that burned his throat, ravaging up to the very tip of his tongue. He dared not taste the air, even in the slightest for fear of claiming yet another victim by the dark gift. It seemed that since his rebirth, he had hardly been involved in affairs like his former self had. Perhaps, it was just the fogginess of his past taking over though - most didn't remember the time before the change. Oh well, perhaps, since the queen was laying still in suffering pain from his nearly lethal bite, he should step in on his king's behalf.
"Hello," said the stag, sparkling in the brightest sunlight as he stepped forth. Blood of others prolonged him, and that was completely obvious by the depth in his orbs, the awkward stillness that he exhibited. The lingering smirk that seemed to curse his features even though his intent was not malicious. "I am Amani," he stated to those that knew not his identity. Few did, as he lurked behind the scenes most of the time.
"I would have sent your queen to you, but she is still writhing in pain," he said quietly to the king, looking carefully to the mare and the two fillies that circled about in what seemed to be playful banter. Vampire's intuition told him differently though. Truly, the child that seemed to envy a ruler's dominance would be a threat in future days. Of course, not to them. They were neither threatened nor injured by mere mortals. His own battles would arise, perhaps, in the form of facing his creator. Still, he was angry about what was done to him but accepted the fact that it was his own saving grace. Dead in the ground would his ebony bodice be if it had not been for the stag that saved his very soul for eternity.
Trying to seem more life-like, he moved about a bit like a normal horse would do when introducing oneself. "Cynder," he said, calling his little filly from the bushes. Soon, she would emerge to perhaps join the chaotic scene. How nice that would be, he laughed to himself easily as he thought of how much more interesting the situation would be with her there.

| 'only thanks to you," Thowra replied, glaring at Amani for a few seconds as both this daughters vanished into the trees away from them. He knew Kalina was going to be trouble. She was certainly different.
Cynder came slowly out of the bush to jojn them, looking around quite curiously. she was easily older than Kalina, being already a yearling by now. "You called father?" she asked. She smiled at Kunama and the sooty buckskin colt standing with her. "Hello Kunama." She had met the golden mare a few times.

| "Whatever," he murmured, gales gently blowing his thick forelock to one side as his hulking form stood before the creamy. "You were going to change her anyways...and you know as well as I the power of the hunger," he said quietly, not completely worried about their little spat over the fae turning immortal. It was doing him a favor to have her by his side for the rest of eternity anyways, so he truly had to right to be mad at him. Still, it made the ebony stag a little uncomfortable with how sore the creamy was with him right now, as they had been friends since he first set foot into the deep forest.
Bending his skull down, he saw his tiny filly emerging from the wood to meet them all. Still fragile was she, but he knew that she had the heart of a true warrior and fighter. And he would protect her until his dying day - which would be never, as he was god-like, immortal.
Smiling to her, he nudged her gently. "Yes I did, Cynder. It is time you become acquainted with the rest of the herd. They are your family and my dearest friends, and you should treat them as such," he said sternly, yet in a fatherly way. Truly, they were the best allies and friends he could ever ask for, and he had done some wrong to them lately. All would ease with time though, actually, all would ease after Julianna woke up. She wasn't dead - well, technically she was - but she was in spirit and in body with them forever, as was his queen. What more could be asked for?

| "Yes, but that was not for a while yet, Amani," Thowra replied. He turned away. Wurring came forwards a little. "Hello father.." he said, smiling up at the creamy. He had been frightened of Kalina, that much could be said. "What's your name, my son?" Thowra asked. "Wurring," the colt replied. | |

| The dazzling beauty
Something rustled in the bushes, something like a predator who lived in immense darkness and had excellent predatory instincts. Like a waiting lioness was the fae, bloody crimson orbs staring intently upon the scene in which she watched play out before her. From a long sleep she had awakened - and felt refreshed and alive once more. So dainty was her form, once weighted down with strong bone structures, but now, the importance of speed and agility outweighed that of strength.
Easily she stepped forward, instantly feeling the draw of the blood-lust...that burning in her throat. It was difficult for her to control herself, for the blood of the youth was so enticing - so fragrant that she had to have just a small taste. It would only be for a moment; not enough to hurt anyone.
Immediately, she lunged forward into the scene, fangs bared as she saw a massive form shift before her. It was Amani! How dare he forbid her to feed after he changed her into the volatile creature that she now was every day for eternity. This was all his fault, and when she wasn't full of thirst, he would certainly pay for his crimes against her. Of course, it wouldn't be with his life, but perhaps with his servitude.
"You don't want to do this. He is of your herd," he said quietly, trying to hush her temper as he stood before her. Much like her, his orbs were crimson...deep crimson though whereas hers were completely bright. It seemed the traitorous coward had not fed since they last glimpsed into each other's eyes.
Now understanding where she was and who she was, she took a step back, daring not to breathe and looked in an ashamed fashion towards Thowra. "My hunger...it is..." she whimpered, trying not to speak on account of the pain that was swollen up in her throat. How could they cope like this? How could her love live all eternity with this blood lust? It was like normal hunger. Except for the detail that it could not be suppressed!

| Thowra snorted. "Don't even talk to her, Amani!" he snapped. "You've done quite enough thank you." He walked over to Juliana. "I'll help you at least." He shot Amani a glare. He had no right to talk to Thowra's queen at all now. No right at all.
"Wurring, go back with Kunama to where the herd is, son," he said, making sure to move between that fragile colt and his queen. He was used to the bloodlust indeed. It did not bother him so much.

| The dark creamy tossed her tiny head, prancing a little in glee at being able to explore own her own - or almost on her own. She glanced at Kalina under her lashes, pouting a little at the other's words.
"Aww," she groaned, flicking her tail disappointingly. Ilinga followed the other willingly, often pausing to sniff at a strange flower or two.
"Where are we going?" she asked curiously, tilting her head to the side.
*** Kunama watched with anxious eyes as her precious filly disappeared into the bush with the little vampiric filly. Within her heart, she felt nothing but dread, and knew that something bad was about to happen. She nickered anxiously, sadly, and prayed with all her heart for Ilinga to return unscathed.
Too distracted within her own thoughts, she gave only a mere nod and smile to both Amani and Cynder. However, when Julianna burst through the bushes, Kunama whinnied in shock, shying away and hustling Wurring back, behind her. She gave a terse nod to Thowra, eyes darting from side to side as both dam and colt quietly left.

| Kalina laughed. “Does it really matter where we go?” she asked. She knew that soon she would have memorized her father’s homeland and that would make taking him out all the more fun for her to do. It was something she was certainly looking towards doing. And there was no chance she would let anyone stop her.
Wurring snorted in fright as several strangers came out. He was already wary of the others and when Kunama went to move away, he followed his mother more than happily. He did not like the others much, they scared him. "Where are we going mama?"

| Ilinga laughed joyously, revelling in the warmth of the weather and the burn in her muscles as the two young fillies galloped together, side by side in the wild forest. Bucking and kicking a little, the filly pushed herself faster, her dark cream pelt shining brightly under the hot afternoon sun.
"Nope!" she answered, laughing in response. "Let's go that way! I heard that there's an awesome cliff somewhere over there!"
*** Kunama nuzzled Wurring gently, her eyes soft and loving as she deftly guided her son through the dense undergrowth, quietly teaching him with soft nudges and whispers where to put his hooves and how to hide his tracks, as Thowra had, so long ago.
"Back to the herd, darling," she answered, winking playfully at the colt. She had felt his apprehension and fear just now as the others had come out. Her son was more timid than her daughter, but she was sure that as time passed, he would grow into his strength. Wurring would make a fine stallion in the future.

| Crimson orbs prowled over the delicate bodice of the tiny filly before her, longing to feast upon her blood to satisfy her hunger. Petite was her form, and she was shaped like a slithering serpent as a stalker of prey would be - the perfect hunter. It wasn't how she wanted to spend the rest of her life but it seemed she had little choice now that she had turned into this stunning creature at the eyes of all.
Julianna shot a sour look to the ebony stag as he attempted to help her - it would be a while before she forgave him for taking her life away. They were already in good sorts though, for they were all of the same kind now, doomed to an eternity of dealing with each other. It was quite good that she got the privilege of living in harmony with her one true mate but to be burdened with others and to see her children die before her. Her eldest had not not be a-cursed like she had with immortality. At least she was able to die and live normally within a realm of light and happiness. Some things were not the same as others.
Easily, she shook her skull at his mentioning that he could help her - no one could help her more than to find her blood. "The thirst..is very strong, my love. It is difficult to contain myself," she said quietly, trying not to breathe but doing so out of instinct. She couldn't help herself. "Amani and his child need to go. Her blood is luring me to kill her, but I don't want to," she said, warning them.

| Thowra sighed, "Perhaps you should come with me then," he said, looking at her. He knew what she spoke of, and he remembered how hard it had been not to kill his own grandson back when he was changed. Gently he nuzzled her. He knew what it was like in those first months of being a vampire. "Generally I would go to Mortes Field and finish off those who are having trouble passing on. That I do not see it as killing someone, more as though I am helping them." | |

| Kalina laughed Ilinga’s disappointment off as she moved through the trees. “Is there nothing but trees here?” she asked with some disdain. She did not like this place. Forests were too constricting! Why did her father have to live amongst so many trees?
“I sure hope there is.” She turned and bounded swiftly away. Laughing to herself as she ran. This place was pathetic!
**
“Who else is there?” Wurring asked. He was trying his best to do as she was telling him, but it was not the easiest of things to get his young head around.

| Ilinga tossed her head, flicking her tail and arching her neck.
"I guess," she shrugged, laughing softly. "But it's not that bad, though! There are all sorts of cool animals and trees and stuff! I bet we can even find some poison ivy!"
Her brown eyes sparkled in excitement.
Soon enough, the pair came to a ragged cliff - the border of the land. Falling below, the young filly could see the ocean, smell the salty air and she whinnied in excitement.
*** Kunama smiled fondly at her son, who was trying to imitate her movement.
"Silence, I suppose," Kunama said after a thoughtful pause. "I'm not too sure myself. I don't usually go to the herd gatherings."

| “What is so exciting about seeing the ocean?” Kalina asked, eyeing her younger… acquaintance. There was nothing of interest she could see down there at all. It looked cold, wet and miserable. “I’m going to go explore outside the borders. You coming or are you a scardy cat like your brother?”
Wurring nodded as he followed his mothers trackless way as well as he possibly could. “Why not mummy?” he asked as he walked behind her.

| Ilinga rolled her eyes at the other filly's question. To her young mind, the answer was blindingly simple and straightforward.
"It's cool," she explained, watching Kalina as though the other were slow. "The waves and the beauty and the power. If we were to push someone in, they'd definitely drown!" she boasted, proud of her deduction, as she whipped around playfully, lightly springing back to Kalina's side.
Ilinga glanced sharply at Kalina at her words, ears flattening uncertainly.
"I-Well, my mum said not to..." she said hesitantly, glancing around, as though asking for help. At her next words, however, Ilinga narrowed her eyes indignently.
"I'm not!" she protested, huffing. "Let's go, then! Or maybe, you're the scared one!"
With that, she galloped as fast she could to the nearest border, ignoring the fears and uncertainty that rose within her.
***
Kunama sighed, glancing up at the sky as it turned pink, in preparation for night. She did hope that Ilinga was all right with that little demon. Her young, innocent daughter, still so naive, so corruptible...
The palomino glanced at Wurring, a warm smile lighting up her face, and bringing a sparkle to her eyes.
"I don't much like large gatherings," she explained patiently. "However, you may go if you wish, as long as Thowra is there to keep an eye out for you."
Suddenly, she spun around, playfully nudging her son.
"Come on! Race you!" she called, needing to do something to keep her mind off her wayward daughter.
