| Ramil couldn’t help himself. He smirked lightly behind Ankti’s back at the muffled swearing he could hear as he body relaxed against his. The stallion felt like leaping to his hooves and crowing in pride, bugling his petty triumph from the very mountaintops that surrounded this land.
“Again?” Ramil was caught by that word, eyes narrowing in concern as Ankti seemed to panic, her whispers losing conviction and power, leaving behind a desperate, vulnerable shell of a mare.
“Ankti…” Ramil murmured, heart clenching at the heartbroken look on the fae’s face. “It’s better to have loved and lost, than not to have loved at all. Surely you’ve heard of this? And it’s true,” Ramil continued, the words seemingly dragged out of his chest, like thorns uncoiling from a bush. “It’s so true. So what if they die?” he ground out harshly, eyes distant and sad and oh-so filled with pain and rage and love and loss. “At least you know they love you. And they’ll have known they were loved in turn. Wouldn’t it have been worth it, then?”
Ramil bowed his head, breathing harshly, before the tense lines of his shoulders relaxed, and he lightly dipped his muzzle to touch the fae’s shoulder delicately, his grey eyes soft and sweet and tender.
“Oh Ankti,” he sighed, even as his heart soared. “You won’t. You won’t lose me, love. I’ll be with you always, in life and in death. I won’t ever leave you. Because… because I love you,” he rushed out, stopping, horribly embarrassed. He sighed tiredly, resting his head on the ground, curled around Ankti as he closed his eyes.

| Crest bowed into the hard floors of the cave, her stomach heaved as she panted for breath and memories seemed to flash before her mind. Confusing her, sending her to another place. But his tones brought her back, snapping her to the present.
"Yes again," she whispered, harks lowering in defenselessness, unable to fight it anymore "and sometimes one only has so much love to give, can only go though so much hurt and pain and suffering until they can no longer give."
She twisted her white, damp neck to face him with her guarded gaze. "I have nothing more...and what is love? Love is nothing more then a word, used to flatter and break hearts."
She snorted, a toss of her head in place and a picture of the once fiery mare returned before the weakened shell returned, her body sagging against his build as the soft patter of rain echoed outside.
"And if they truly love," she argued back "they wouldn't of left, they wouldn't of all left me. Love isn't worth the heartache and the issues. It is simply easier to roam and never get attached."
She recited the words, as if they were almost ingrained into her mind. Over and over again repeated as her mantra, the monotone of her voice breaking as she shivered delicately under the gentle, tender touch of his soft muzzle on her shoulder.
Tears sprung to her eyes, but she instantly forced them back at the last of his words, shaking her head softly in protest but stilled at his words, eyes growing wide as he curled himself around her, his warmth sharing with her in the coldness of the night. "Y-you love me?" she whispered, harks pricked tall as she struggled with the urge to run as far away as possible. But a crackle of lighting and the deep echoing rumble of thunder quickly pushed that from her mind.
Hesitantly, she slowly lowered her head so to lay it beside his handsome maw. A sigh escaping her as she pressed herself against him. "Never leave me.." she whispered, slowly drifting off to a deep slumber.
***
Catori slowly returned, taking his time while he chuckled to himself. He had seen the sparks in their eyes, the immediate attraction of the stallion to his younger sister.
And somehow, he knew that he could be the one to save her from herself. To break her free from her fighting shell, to teach her that there is more to life.
Having roamed for long enough, he slowly made his way back to the cave and settled himself in the entry, after checking on the curled up pair, an amused grin upon his features but a longing echoed deep within.
When would he find his own mate?
OOC: well that was a long, rambling piece of rubbish...I hope you can find something decent in there Saph

| Ramil tossed back her head, sending his long mane of ebony rippling. His grey eyes closed at her words, for they were true, all true, but he could not – would not – believe in them for to do so was surely to send one into the depths of despair and rage and hate. And the absence of love would then grow ever stronger, making one hate even more, and it would become a never-ending cycle of sorrow and loneliness. And that he could not bear. For both him and for Ankti. “You don’t mean that,” Ramil murmured, terrible knowledge in his eyes – because yes, of course he knew what it was like. He had fought in many, many battles, lost his friends and brothers and family. “No, Ankti,” he said strongly, twisting his neck so that he could look her in the eye. “Cliché as it might sound, they have never left you. They are still with you, within your heart, just waiting to be heard,” he insisted, belief glowing in his eyes. “They’re with you always.” At her words, Ramil smiled breathtakingly, joy flaring in his eyes. “I do… I’d never leave you,” he murmured, squeezing his eyes shut as a bolt of happiness spiked through him. Slowly, he felt Ankti’s breaths even out, and he knew she was asleep.
Hoofbeats sounded, and Ramil whipped his head up, eyes narrowing warily at the sight of Catori, uncertain if he would object. But as his eyes fell upon the smiling stallion, Ramil relaxed, letting a wry smile slip onto his maw.
“Any luck?” he asked Catori pointedly, smirking slightly.
(OOC: It was not! I loved them both xD)

| Ankti glanced up at his tall form, eyes scanning his as they flashed with a deep, running passion and telling the unknown story of something terrible.
"It is a nice thought," she admitted softly, closing her eyes and picturing all her loved ones close to her heart. Lending her strength, guiding her to the right path.
"Thank you..."she whispered before falling into the lull of sleep.
**
Catori glanced up at the stallion's word, a smirk playing at his lips.
"Enough," he nodded his patched head "the area is at least secure. How does my sister fair?"
He eyed the peacefully sleeping fae, having to admire how small and innocent she looked while laying there. So young and none of the blood and pain she lived though daily evident.
"You will watch over her?" he asked softly, glancing back up at the ebony brute.

| "Anything for you, darling," Ramil whispered, grey eyes glowing tenderly, brushing his muzzle softly against her cheek.
He flicked grey eyes towards the stallion, smiling widely at him, unable to keep the love-struck expression off his face. "Better than she was," he admitted quietly. "I had no idea how frightened she was of thunderstorms."
Ramil met the stallion's gaze head-on, his own expression serious for once, understanding the respecting the enormous amount of trust that Catori was placing in him.
"With my life," he swore solemnly, flicking her ears, sighing as the thunderstorms eased.
"Where were you planning to go after this?"

| Catori lowed his head in a deep nod at the words. "Aye, she has always been startled but refuses to show her weakness so," he murmured, eying his resting twin with a worried sigh "normally we were surrounded by others so she would simply stand beside me, hiding from the others. She hates showing weakness..."
He blinked the large blue eyes with a shake of his patched locks. "We lost our mother due to weakness, or that is the story she believes."
He hesitated softly, glancing towards the light drizzle of rain. "I shall be disappearing sometime soon. I shall trust her care with you," he whispered, locking eyes with the ebony stallion "and shall I find even a hair of harm upon her, I shall hunt you down myself."
He heaved himself to his hooves once more. "She will not allow me to leave if she wakes, I have my own path to follow now and I trust she will be in good hands with you," he hesitated, moving closer and gently nuzzled her sleeping form as if to say goodbye.

| Ramil bowed his head in acknowledgement at the other stallion's words, the soft, even breaths of Ankti against his flank comforting more than words could express. Sadness filled his heart for the young fae who was so afraid of appearing weak that she would not even allow herself to open up her heart.
"What happened... if it isn't too intrusive," he added hastily. "I do not mean to pry."
Ramil blinked in surprise at his next words, lifting his chin sharply, grey eyes gleaming in the moonlight. "I will not harm her," he said, curling his lip and glaring at Catori for even implying so.
"But," he hissed, baring his teeth in a snarl as he narrowed his eyes, "If you leave... if you leave her like this - without closure or a word of goodbye - I'll hunt to down and rip you to shreds. She'll be devastated that you don't even trust her enough to want what's best for you!"
Ramil flexed his muscles, as though we were about to shoot up and confront the other war horse.
"Now, do you want me to wake her up, or will you do it yourself?"

| Once more the damp stallion hesitated at the bowing of the others head, nodding and knew that it wasn't his time to tell him.
"That..." he stated hesitantly "is something she will tell you when she is ready. If she can tell you her past, her stories you know that she trusts you beyond her own life. She does not share herself easily. I believe she will trust you more if you find out on her terms. Not mine."
But at the challenging glance of the ebony's head, he instantly squared his shoulders in defiance and drew himself to his full height. In that instant his features changed, becoming hard and no longer the gentle stallion he had shown before. Obviously, he did not appreciate the threat.
"Think carefully stallion," he snapped quietly, ever-cautious of his resting sibling "do not challenge me. I can crush you in seconds."
But he couldn't help but admire the dedication he showed already to his little sister. Glad that she had finally found someone worthwhile. "If I do not go now, she would never allow me to. I trust you'll keep her safe, even if she doesn't."

| Ramil nodded, bowing his head as he acquicised to the other stallion's words. Indeed, his words did make sense.
If it were him divulging the secrets of his past, Ramil would have liked to do it himself and in person, rather than hear from another that they already knew.
"Fair enough," Ramil said, flashing the other with a quick smile. "I trust her enough to tell me if something needs to be said."
But I don't know of I trust mtself enough to know what needs to be said of my own past,[/] Ramil thought with a tinge of sadness.
But after his words, Ramil stiffened, pinning his ears and bristling with the implied insult.
"Care to test that?" he snarled in defiance. "You know [i]nothing of my past," Ramil spat quietly, mind awash with blood and the sounds of dying and pain and rage.
He soon bowed down to common sense, taking a deep breath and forcing himself to relax.
"I can't force you to. But I think you're making a mistake," Ramil said quietly. "I'll tell her what you said. "
Ramil bowed his head. "Good pickings and farewell. May the stars be with you."

| Catori riffled up once more, snapping his teeth dangerously. "You don't get a reputation as a war horse like we do without winning," he challenged in a matter of fact tone, not at all gloating "and you know nothing of mine!"
"And she will take my side in a heart-beat, remember that."
But at his head bowed, he slowly relaxed and rolled his thickly set shoulders with a good natured nod.
"Please do. I shall see her again..someday."
He nuzzled her side once more and slowly pulled away, nodding once more to the ebony stallion. "You as well. Keep her safe."

| Ramil hissed, grey eyes flashing fire as every muscle in his body tensed, ready for battle.
"In a war against humans, perhaps," he said scornfully. "Not a war against other horses. That, I know of."
He fell silent, bristling at the implied slight of his next words, before calming, letting go of his anger like a leaf in a breeze. Ramil took a deep breath of air, shaking his head and letting his temper cool.
"Do visit. Soon," he added pointedly, huffing in exasperated annoyance.
He shared a last nod with the other stallion, before closing his eyes and wrapping his neck over Ankto's soft one, ears pricked as he kept watch over his heart.
