The first was a tall light creamy tan bodied mare. her lover legs, tips fo her ears, nose, mane and tail were silver. Wings a mixture of creamy tan, white and black, and eyes deep emerald green. Bel Bel knew that though it was hard to move on from her beloved Sundara, she would have to find another to love. Would she be able to love again? She was the betta of Inlisaar Noriatan, and she remembered times when Sundara and Surreal had been the worst forcers around. Herself and the newly deceased Saoirse had changed that though.

Now she remained, ever faithful to her homeland, yet she knew she had to find someone else who would be the new betta stallion. This was her duty. Eventually she would also provide a heir to that said title as well.

Beside her moved another younger and wingless mare. A fae with a creamy body and silvery mane and tail. This was her eldest daughter, Bella, the betta queen of Snowy River Forest, though there was a chance that she would not be any more. She knew Kairva had been killed by men, and now her daughter sought for someone else to share her peaceful world with.

Would anyone want to take their chances with these broken mares?

Honore-Aurore

I trotted along the river banks, the shade of the trees only barely blunting the scorching rays from the sun above. I didn't mind though; I was hellion, and the heat made me feel very much alive. It had been a long while since I'd grown up, and I'd often considered coming to the island before, but my duties to others kept me busy. Finally though, I'd gotten the chance to come here, and I didn't intend to leave by myself.

My black ears flicked forwards a bit, listening. Then I changed my course, turning towards the center of the island. I had heard faint hoof beats; hopefully from the movement of a mare. I quickened my pace, my black wings folded tightly against my sides to keep the feathers from being pulled out by any of the low hanging branches of the weeping willows.

Finally I came to a halt in front of two mares who I'd heard many things of, but had never before met. One was winged, and carried herself with a fine and stately grace. The other was gifted with a simpler grace, though just as fine. Both were the same creamy shade, with silver markings. These were mother and daughter, Bel Bel and Bella.

"Hello," I said, bowing a bit. "I am Honore-Aurore. It is a pleasure to meet you."

((oi, Therthis, Bel Bel's coming your way buddy!))

She was one of the wisest of the older horses alive these days but there was much sorrow in Bel Bel's features now that once more, Sundara, her love, had passed on once more. She smiled as the youngster introduced himself, having known already who he was.

“Greetings to you as well, Honoure-Aurore. I already knew who you were from the moment I spotted you. As you likely already know, I am Bel Bel, one of the oldest of horses here in Freedoms Palace. I am the betta queen of Inlisaar Noriatan, though I fear I might have to pass that title on to the next horse who wishes it. This is my daughter, Bella, half sister to Thowra the immortal, and the thus unchallenged betta queen of Snowy River Forest.”

She smiled.

“What brings you to this place?”

Honore-Aurore

He was slightly taken aback by her words, not having thought that many knew of him. After all, he hadn't spent much time around others, and never expected people of importance to recognize him at first glance. However, now wasn't the time to worry about his social status, and he didn't care much about it either, anyways. Instead, he answered Bel Bel with a smile. "I've not been here before, and..." he shrugged a bit, not sure how to word his intentions. "I'm looking for a herd, and a home. The only home I ever actually had was the gully, and that wasn't what I'd call the most pleasant experience... But what are you two doing here?" he voiced the question to both of them, but his eyes were on Bella, waiting for her to answer, his black eyes bright with interest. Despite his obvious abilities as a warrior, and the fact that that had been his interest from the start, his dam and granddam had made sure that he was also well-versed in their art, of intrigue and trickery, and of discovering information that would be useful later on. Now, he chose to use his training for a different purpose... One more suited to him.

Bel Bel chuckled, looking at him. She knew why they were here. “I am only here as long as my daughter seeks a stallion to help her with her duties in Snowy River Forest,” she replied with a small smiled. “I will go to another herd when she has found someone. And yes I know of your talents, there is very little that escapes the ears of a silver horse when the creatures of the bush look out for us.”

Bella smiled. “He'd have to be kind and courageous, willing to defend my home if Thowra should not be there for whatever reason as he tends to wander off like the eind for which my king was named. Of course that stallion would also have to respect that it is I who is the betta and not himself.”

Honore-Aurore

The black horse smiled a bit, nodding. From what the two said, he was well-suited for the duties at least, but that wasn't the only consideration he took into account. Still he felt somewhat confident, and knew that should Snowy River Forest be taken, then the various evils of the land would gain another advantage. "Well, in that case," he said, with a nod of his head. "Would you mind me volunteering, Bella?" asked the young stallion. It would offer him a chance to do what he did best, as well as give him an opportunity to quit his constant wandering. Not to mention, he thought hopefully, Bella is beautiful... Nothing at all like most of the faes I've met, and far wiser... But does she care for me at all?

Honore-Aurore waited on tenterhooks, his dark eyes sparkling brightly, although other than that one sign, he managed fairly well to hide his hopeful interest.

She looked at the stallion before her. He was younger than her, and she knew he knew how to spy on the other horses. Could he be the one she was searching for? He was so different from her old stallion. It was going to be hard to teach him the things she knew about the lands. At least she knew Thowra would never fall to someone else. She was safe as the betta.

"I will give you the chance, Honoure-Aroure." Bella's voice was soft, and still showed that she mourned for those who had lost so much in the years. Though she was young, there was a wizened sorrow that made her seem much older than her shallow years.

Honore-Aurore

The black bowed, glad that he hadn't been refused, but aware of some of the hidden sadness in her voice. He looked at her, before moving a bit closer, though not intimately so. "You won't be sorry, Bella. I promise you that." He'd made his own decision. His mother, and her mother both had chosen to serve Armada, but he... He knew that she wasn't his queen... Bella was his, no matter what happened. "Shall we go to your home then?" he asked her, perfectly willing to let her choose where to go next. she was more of a leader then he was, and he sensed that it was probably better that way, at least in some things.

The young mare sighed as she looked at her mother. "I believe we shall part ways, if only for a while," she said, looking at Bel Bel. "You'll be alright then?"

"I will be as fine as I was the first time you left me to live in Snowy River Forest. I will always be happy knowing that you are happy. Feel free to seek me out in the Gemdas if you want to speak with me, my Bella." The winged mare smiled and spread her huge wings. She looked to Honore-Aurore. "We shall meet again young one, even if it is but once more." Then she was gone, leaping into the skies.

Bella looked at Honoure-Aurore. “Come on then, see if you can keep me in sight,” she laughed. Then she darted forwards, swift as a sunbeam and as silent as the wind that had always been her friend. She knew where to go, and she knew the lands well.

Honore-Aurore

He bowed to Bel Bel, but when the fae started running, the black bolted after her, his feet swift and silent, then suddenly his wings snapped open and with a few powerful flaps he was above the trees, catching glimpses of the silvery fae from among the branches of the willows.

Then he was beyond the island, above the river, and past the silver fae, speeding along his way to his first real home. And, in the meantime, he mulled a bit over what Bel Bel had said to her daughter. "Feel free to seek me out in the Gemdas..." Which meant that she was either heading to speak with Heart of Gold... Or with Therthis...

He smiled, intrigued by the various possibilities that he thought of, one after another. Oh yes, he'd learn a lot of new things, and he'd do so in a real home, without worrying about someone trying to torture him for no reason - aside from anyone who was foolish enough to attempt to take over the forest of Thowra - and with the presence of a queen worth fighting for...
