The Lunging Dance

Some stared at her, because she had never been seen before, but that was only something she knew herself. The icy tundra had been where she entered Freedoms Palace from, but that was the way she was. The ice was where she was at home most, and she hoped that the one who she found would accept that as a home.

As she moved she sang a song, a song that only one stallion would hear and come to her because of. Like the penguin birds, every Solven had a song that would only ever attract one mate.


She sighed as she moved, knowing that at the moment, there was no one who was listening to her. She had sung this song too many times, too many times un noticed. It sucked for her, but she knew what she was doing at the moment. Usually another Solven would answer, but the song that the only other one in Freedoms Palace had did not work for her.


That was the part of the song that she mainly liked, it was the funnest bit for her to sing. yet still not stallion looked at her twice, at least,none of them answered her with a song of their own.


Sometimes she wished that this would be a hell of a lot easier, for them to do. But at the moment someone seemed be eluding her. Would she send another year alone?


She seemed exasperated at the moment. There was no one who wanted to reply to her, what so ever. She lifted her dunalino head high, with its black and white nose, her black tail streaming in the wind like a regal banner.


As yet she had found no one, and she knew she was an interesting mare to see. Not many were like her, with the split coloured lower legs, with the black and white socks. Sighing, she sang the last of her song.

But as she finshed her song a stallion as black as the night and as graceful as any of her kind apperd from the forest trees and began to sing

She looked on as she heard the words, knowing within her mind that he was the one she was waitign for all this time. "You kept me waiting for a long time," she said, smiling at him. There was nothing that she did not like about the song he had sang just then. Not to mention he was a flawless white in colour which was even more appealing to her at the moment.

"What's your name?" she asked.

"Shadowfax" he said "and what is a such beautiful mare doing beside such a beautiful lake on such a beautiful day?"

She snorted, hearing the many times he used the same words in the sentence. "Searching for the one who is meant to be with me, for the rest of my life," she replied, smiling at him. There were some things that made no sense to her, but this was something that did make sense in its own way.

A filly could not remain in her fathers herd her whole life. Hell, she'd spent 20 years in her father's herd and now she was out seeking the adventure that her life was meant to be.

"The one you seek shoud be truly hounerd to spend his life with you but im afraid the one here is bound by law. " he said this in a tone of saddnes that he had never expressed by him before as he truly did wish for a mare of his own but as an assassin it was forbidden and doing so would lead to death or a least exile

She snorted. "And why is that?"

He sighed "I am bound by the rules of the assassins and that is that only mares may find a mate if i where to break these rules it would lead me to death or a least exile."

"Would you rather be alone all your life? I've been alone for the last twenty years, and yet you caught my eye with that song."

"Even me who is not one of you?" she snorted, thinking this was rather silly. "That is not exactly fair."
